Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Mettle collects, why we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

EntryDock Inc. operates Mettle, including the Mettle mobile apps, web game, Reddit game, and websites. In this policy, “Mettle,” “we,” and “us” refer to EntryDock Inc.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, public user name, and account creation date. Mettle does not ask for or store a password. We send a six-digit code to your account email when you log in on a device without a saved session.

Game activity

We collect the rounds you play, answers you submit, scores, time remaining, play dates, progress, and leaderboard results. This lets us save your progress, show your answer history, and rank scores.

Mettle on Reddit

When you play Mettle on Reddit, Reddit gives the app your Reddit account ID, public user name, and the community, post, or comment where you opened the game. Mettle stores your attempts, answers, response times, scores, progress, badges, round feedback, leaderboard entries, known community subscription state, and links to Mettle score posts and comments in Devvit Redis.

Mettle posts a score or discussion comment from your Reddit account only after you choose to post it. Reddit stores that public post or comment under Reddit’s privacy policy. Deleting your Mettle data removes our stored link to it but does not delete it from Reddit.

Round feedback and support

If you rate a round, we collect your thumbs-up or thumbs-down choice and any guided reason you select. If you contact support, we collect your message and contact details so we can respond.

Device and service information

Our hosting and email services may record your IP address, request time, browser or device type, operating system, app version, and error or security details. Mettle also stores sign-in state, settings, onboarding status, and downloaded game content on your device.

Product analytics and errors

We collect app screens visited, feature use, round and topic identifiers, broad score results, app version, device type, operating system, request failures, and software errors. We use a random device identifier before sign-in and a Mettle account identifier after sign-in. We do not send PostHog your email address, public user name, answer text, invite codes, login codes, or request bodies. We disable location lookup and IP address storage in this analytics service.

For the Reddit game, we collect round starts and completions, answer correctness and response time, score sharing, round feedback, and game flow steps. Reddit moderators for the community where Mettle runs can view this information in an in-app dashboard. Analytics copied to our private Google Cloud Storage bucket are aggregated and do not include Reddit user names, Reddit account IDs, comment text, or answer choice text.

What we do not collect

Mettle does not use advertising trackers. We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, health data, or payment card details through the current app. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

How we use information

  • Provide accounts, sign-in, saved progress, answer review, scores, and leaderboards.
  • Operate, secure, test, and improve Mettle.
  • Analyze how Mettle is used, measure question and feature quality, and improve reliability.
  • Answer support requests and review round feedback.
  • Detect misuse, protect players, and meet legal duties.

Aggregated and de-identified information

We may combine or transform game activity, product analytics, round feedback, and technical information so it no longer reasonably identifies or can be linked to you. We may use this aggregated or de-identified information for statistics, research, product planning, question and difficulty analysis, safety, reliability, and to develop, test, train, and evaluate Mettle features and automated systems.

We do not use email addresses, login codes, public user names, support messages, or other directly identifying account information to train these systems. We do not try to re-identify de-identified information. We may give service providers access to aggregated or de-identified information only to perform work for Mettle under contractual limits. We do not currently provide directly identifying account information or raw support messages to third-party artificial intelligence providers for model training.

Service providers and subprocessors

We use companies that process information on our behalf to operate Mettle. Key providers include:

  • Google Cloud Platform (Google LLC, United States): application hosting, databases, storage, backups, logging, and security. Google Cloud may process account information, game activity, server logs, IP addresses, request details, and other information needed to run and protect Mettle.
  • PostHog, Inc. (United States): product analytics, app performance, and error monitoring. PostHog receives pseudonymous device or Mettle account identifiers, screen and feature events, app and device information, request failures, and software errors. As described above, we do not send PostHog email addresses, public user names, answer text, invite or login codes, or request bodies, and we disable location lookup and IP address storage in PostHog.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (United States): domain and DNS routing, traffic delivery, and SMTP delivery of login and service email. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata needed to route traffic, plus destination email addresses, message content, and delivery details needed to send and protect email.
  • Reddit, Inc. (United States): distribution, Reddit identity, posts and comments, community context, Devvit app hosting, and Devvit Redis storage for the Reddit game.

We require service providers to process information only for the services they provide to Mettle and to protect it. Providers may process information in the United States and other places where they operate. We may update this list when our providers change.

Other sharing

Your public user name, scores, and rank can appear to other players on Mettle leaderboards. Apple and Google may process information when they distribute the app or provide platform services. They handle that information under their own terms and privacy policies.

On Reddit, score and discussion posts or comments that you choose to publish appear under your Reddit account and may be public. Reddit controls their display and retention.

We may disclose information when law requires it, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a merger, financing, sale, or transfer of the service. We do not give service providers the right to use your information for their own advertising.

How long we keep information

We keep your account and game activity while your account remains open. When you delete your account, we delete your account record, public profile, answers, scores, progress, and round feedback linked to you. Leaderboards update after deletion.

Reddit play analytics in Devvit Redis expire after up to 100 days unless you delete your Mettle data sooner. Guest post data expires after 30 days. We may keep aggregated Reddit analytics that no longer identify or link to a Reddit account. Mettle checks stored Reddit account IDs in small batches and removes linked data when Reddit reports that an account no longer exists.

Limited security logs, product analytics, error reports, support records, backups, or records required by law may remain for a reasonable period. We may keep information that no longer identifies you. Data stored only on your device can remain until you clear the app’s data or remove the app.

Your choices and rights

You can change your public user name in the app. You can delete your account in Mettle Settings or follow the steps on our account deletion page. You may also ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information by emailing support@playmettle.com.

In the Reddit game, open your profile and choose “Delete my Mettle data.” This removes Mettle’s Reddit-side records. Use Reddit’s controls to delete posts or comments stored by Reddit.

Depending on where you live, you may have more rights, such as the right to receive a copy of your data, object to some uses, or appeal a privacy request decision. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You may use an authorized agent where local law allows it.

Children

Mettle is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If local law requires parental consent at an older age, you must have that consent before using Mettle. Contact us if you believe a child gave us personal information without the required consent.

Security and international use

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can promise perfect security. EntryDock Inc. is based in the United States. If you use Mettle elsewhere, your information may be processed in the United States and other places where our service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Mettle changes. We will post the new policy here and change the effective date. If a change matters to your rights, we will give any notice required by law.
